Menopause Month: Embracing Change and Building Connections in Autumn
As we step into autumn, we also find ourselves in a time dedicated to raising awareness about a significant phase in women’s lives: menopause.
October is World Menopause Month, a global initiative that aims to break down the stigma surrounding menopause, provide support for those experiencing it, and celebrate the strength of women at this stage of life. This presents an opportunity for us to connect, share, and embrace this natural transition.
Celebrating menopause means acknowledging the transition with pride, rather than shame. It’s about educating ourselves and others on the changes that happen and exploring the options available to manage symptoms—whether through diet and lifestyle adjustments, hormone therapy, either or both.
Autumn is the perfect metaphor for menopause. Just as the trees shed their leaves to prepare for renewal, we take a pause and prepare to step into a new phase with wisdom and strength.
As the cooler months approach, it’s also a time to slow down and reflect on self-care. With darker evenings setting in, we can focus more on nourishing our bodies and minds, making autumn a great time to explore wellbeing events and connect with others on a similar journey.
Social connection is one of the key pillars of wellbeing, and this becomes especially vital during life changes like menopause. Feeling understood and supported can reduce stress and anxiety, helping women navigate the changes with ease.
